Reminder: New Bus Routes/Times (Oct 26) [Bus #10]

This is a reminder to the bus #10 families that due to a decrease in the number of students using the NIS buses, we will discontinue bus #10 and re-arrange some of the routes from Monday, October 26. [Virtual] Walkathon Funds Ceremony (Oct 27)

On Tuesday, October 27, representatives from 18 charitable organizations from the Nagoya/Aichi area are invited to Nagoya International School (NIS) to receive their donations from the 2020 Walkathon. The ceremony will be hosted again this year by NIS Grade 10 Japanese Language and Literature students.

In collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) Chubu Chapter and NIS, this year the Walkathon Committee will distribute ¥6,000,000 to local organizations in support of their great work.
Due to strict health and safety protocols, it is unfortunate that we have to limit the amount of guests to the ceremony. But we are pleased to announce that the event will be live-streamed on the Walkathon Facebook page from 4pm.

Please join in from whereever you are to celebrate the various donation recipients from 29th Annual Walkathon!

Halloween Celebrations! (Oct 30)

Due to COVID restrictions, Halloween celebrations will be modified this year.

All students are encouraged to come to school dressed in a Halloween costume on Friday 30 October. Please do not send toy weapons, such as guns and swords to school as they inevitably lead to problems in the playground.

There will be a Halloween parade in the afternoon and Primary students will attend a special Halloween assembly. Due to our eating guidelines that have been designed to keep students safe during what our medical advisor says is one of the most high risk activities, there will unfortunately be no trick or treating at school this year. The school will provide a small treat for the children that they will eat safely under supervision.

In the past, the HS Student Council has organised a Halloween Fair for the community, after school hours. This year, the MS and HS Student Councils are instead planning a Spirit Week, with activities for our students taking place throughout the week, during school hours.

Reminder: Parking Lot Safety

This is a reminder to parents that we need everyone's help with parking lot safety. Parent are reminded to drive EXTREMELY SLOWLY in the upper parking lot at ALL TIMES. Please do NOT try to pass cars that are waiting to drop-off their children. We also need parents to turn left to exit the parking lot to help with traffic flow. We are extremely grateful for everyone's cooperation to reduce the risk of accidents.

Reminder: Campus Access Restrictions

This is just a reminder to parents that students are not permitted access to campus if anyone in their family household has a high fever (37.5 degree or higher), persistent cough, a loss sense of smell/taste) or any cold/flu-like symptoms. As a community we ask all NIS families to work together to maximize and prioritize the safety of all by following these guidelines. If needed, or if this policy has not been followed, parents may be asked to come to school and collect their child from campus during the school day. Also, please make sure you are regularly checking emails as that will be our main method of communicating with parents in the event of a COVID-related situation. Finally, please refer back to our Campus Access website for clarification if needed.

NIS Social Media Policy

NIS embraces a vibrant and interactive learning environment which encourages students to become digitally literate, using technology to create, share and celebrate their learning stories. Similarly, staff – and parents – are encouraged to model the skills of digital citizenship. Please go HERE for NIS Social Media Policy.
