NIS Admissions Information

Thank you once again for your interest in NIS. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Some of you have nearly completed the admissions process, but some of you have simply initiated or made general inquiries.

Please note that enrollment at NIS is reaching record numbers, and some classes are at or very near capacity. If you were hoping to enroll your child within the upcoming months, we need to hear from you very soon. If you have not submitted all of the documents or required materials, please do so as soon as possible.

For Students Who Have NOT Applied

Please note that some grades are now full and closed, and for those grades, eligible students will be placed into a wait-pool of candidates.

To submit application forms, it is easiest to use the NIS online application portal HERE. Once you complete and submit the application form, you will be able to upload reports and other required documents. It will require you to create a login name and password.

Please also note that the school has changed our policies on reserving spots in classes, and we have created a registration window for families to consider when applying. These policies can be found HERE.

For Students Who Have Applied

Application materials

For those who have additional documents or materials to submit, please send them to us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. All transcripts and other school records (past two years) must be forwarded to the school prior to the interview.

Testing

Testing may be required for some applicants. Testing must be held on campus, which requires an additional appointment prior to an interview. This will depend on the individual applicant, their enrollment timing and educational background.

The Interview

The interview with the principals and the applicant families is the last requirement within the admissions process. This is meant to be a family meeting with the student, parents, and either the Associate Principals or the Whole School Principal. The interview is conducted in English; parents can arrange to bring a translator if they feel it is needed. It is expected that both parents attend the interview, as it is an important, final part of the admissions process and also the beginning of the transition process for the applicant, the family and the school.

The Admissions Decision

After the admissions process has been completed, which includes any testing and the interview, the school will determine admissions eligibility, grade placement, whether additional support is needed, the appropriate level of support, and, ultimately, whether or not we are confident that the student can succeed at NIS enough to maintain satisfactory progress. In some cases, Provisional Acceptance can be offered to reserve seats in advance (read more about Provisional Acceptance HERE).

School Bus

PLEASE NOTE: As of December 2018, Bus #2 and Bus #3 is at or very near capacity for the 2018-19 school year. Wait-lists will be created once capacity has been reached.

Interest in the NIS bus service is very high. Wait-lists will be created for buses that are full, and priority will be first-come/first-serve (for students who have completed the admissions process) with the exception of families with registered siblings. To register for the school bus, or be placed on the bus wait-list, you need to submit the Bus Registration Form. If you have any questions regarding bus registration, please contact us.

Contact Information

We need current and up-to-date contact information before enrollment. Once you know your home address in Nagoya, please let us know as soon as possible. We will also need other contact information (such as mobile phone numbers, new email addresses, etc.) as well as soon as possible.

Invoices

Invoices are issued at the point of registration for all applicable tuition and fees and are payable within 14 days. Failure to pay within the terms of the invoice will result in the places being released for other students. Registration and billing policies can be found HERE.

As always, if you have any questions about the status of your application or what documents are missing, or anything else, please feel free to contact us at anytime.
