Set on a campus of approximately 7.5 acres, NIS consists of five modern buildings connected by terraces, gardens, and covered walkways.

The NIS campus includes architecturally distinctive buildings that provide safe and comfortable spaces to encourage learning in all areas, including classrooms for all ages, specialist areas, outdoor spaces, a design and fabrication lab, a sports field, and play equipment for the younger students. All classrooms have interactive white boards, and students utilize technology with a robust school-wide wifi network. Click on the numbers below to see photos and further descriptions of each area!

Upper Parking

The Upper Parking Lot is the main lot for parents and guests, as well as for student drop-off and pick up.

Main Entrance

The Main Entrance stairway leads to the front gate. A slope to the service entrance and elevator access enable easy access to the left of the main stairway.

Raymond Building Reception

Reception is found within the Academic Office, on the right, immediately after entering the Raymond Building.

Raymond Building 2F Offices

The Head of School and other administration offices are located on the second floor of the Raymond building.

Charles Barton Garden

The Charles Barton Garden, dedicated to former Head of School Mr. Barton, is a beautiful place to relax, reflect, and enjoy the seasons.

Elementary Classrooms

Elementary Classrooms for Grades 1-4 are located on the west side of the circular Raymond Building.

ELC Classrooms

Early Learning Center (ELC) classrooms for Preschool and Kindergarten students, where learning comes to life in a Reggio Emilia-inspired environment.

ELC Outdoor Play Area

ELC students are able to enjoy playing outside in this safe and inspiring outdoor play area.

Gr. 5 Annex

The Annex is a special classroom space where the Gr. 5 students transition from Elementary students into future Middle School students.

Elementary Playground

The Elementary Playground is the perfect place to play off some energy during morning and lunch breaks.

Chicken Coop

The chicken coop is where we keep chickens that help reduce our food waste while providing delicious eggs!

The Commons

The Commons is a multipurpose space used mainly as our cafeteria and Cezars Kitchen food service, but can also turn into a stage area for performances and meetings.

Library

The Library is where you find books for all ages, the media center, and comfortable nooks for collaboration or quiet areas for study.

The Community Garden

The Community Garden is where students and staff grow vegetables and herbs!

Fieldhouse

The Fieldhouse contains a classroom for Health and Well-Being on the lower level, and upper level space for the PTA and our “Little Dolphins” after school childcare program.

Keith Dixon Field

The Keith Dixon Field is where you can find our NIS Dolphins competing in various sports and PE activities.

Secondary Humanities Classrooms

Secondary humanities courses such as English (Language Arts), History (Individuals and Societies), and Economics are found on the east side of the Raymond building.

Design & Fabrication Lab

The Design and Fabrication Lab is home of our robotics program and MYP Design activities.

Multi-Purpose Hall

The Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) in the East Building is a flexible space for large gatherings, collaborative work,  assemblies, performances, testing or Physical Education.

Secondary Art Classrooms

Secondary Art Classrooms in the East Building include a large, bright space and a work-shop studio which houses a kiln.

Secondary Math Classrooms

Secondary Math Classrooms are found mainly on the 4th floor of the East Building.

Secondary Science Classrooms

East Building Science Classrooms include two Biology/Natural Science labs, a Physics lab, a Chemistry lab, greenhouse space, and a prep room that supplies them all with materials needed to learn all about science.

Secondary Music Classrooms

Secondary Music Classrooms in the East Building include a large classroom, smaller ensemble room, and three practice rooms.

Kawanabe Room

The Kawanabe Room, named after one of the architects of the East Building, is a multi-purpose space with a large balcony for meetings and other collaborative functions.

Black Box Drama Room

The Black Box Drama Room is a place where creativity is explored through dramatic performance.

Elementary Music

The Elementary Music Room in the lower level of the Wing Building has one classroom and two practice rooms.

Elementary Art

Elementary Art is held in the Wing Building Lower Level.

Gym

The Wing Building Gym is where the NIS Dolphins compete in basketball, volleyball and badminton, as well as the center for the PHE curriculum.

Japanese Language Classrooms

Five Japanese Language Classrooms are found in the lower level of the Wing Building.

Atrium Fitness Center

The Atrium Fitness Center supports the PHE curriculum and is open to secondary students and staff. 

iSpace

The iSpace is a welcoming space for students of all ages to come for academic, language, or emotional support and well-being.

Bus Parking

The Bus Parking Lot is for bus drop-off in the morning and loading in the afternoon for bus users.

East Parking

The East Parking Lot is reserved for staff parking during the day, but open for parent use for evening or special events.
