...and protect an egg from a four meter drop?
Gr.9 Physicists have been investigating how forces and Newton's Laws apply to vehicles.
Throughout the unit the students have considered:
Why people without seat belts will continue moving forward after a crash?
How a crumple zone at the front of the car absorbs the impact of a crash?
Why airbags have become a very common feature of modern cars?
This culminated in an Egg Drop Challenge.
Students had limited equipment including two balloons, two chopsticks and 20cm of tape to make a safety device for their egg.
Some eggs survived, but most eggs didn't.
Students were then able to demonstrate their learning, evaluate their product and make suggestions for improvements.
