Important Flu Update
We are in the middle of the flu season in Japan. At NIS, we are monitoring this carefully and we ask for your cooperation:
  • If your child is confirmed to have influenza, please report it to school and follow the NIS flu guidelines (Haiku link).
  • If your child is absent due to illness, please include his/her symptoms in your email or note. This is particularly important during this time as we are tracking absences related to flu or flu-like symptoms.
  • If your child has fever or other Influenza-like symptoms, please keep her/him home and seek the advise of a doctor.
We appreciate your cooperation to keep the school safe and healthy! So far, the cases of Influenza at NIS (Jan 20 ~26th) are as follows:
  • Elementary School: 1    Middle School: 6      High School: 2

HS Girls Basketball Tournament
Last weekend NIS hosted the WJAA High School Girls Basketball Tournament. Teams came from Hokkaido, Kobe and Kyoto to compete. It was a great weekend full of skilled basketball and good sportsmanship all around. The NIS Lady Fins struggled due to illness and many injuries, but kept their chins up throughout. A special thank you to the NIS Sports Council, as they supported all areas of the tournament; and it would not have run as smoothly as it did without their time and dedication!  Go Dolphins!

Thank You!
We are pleased that you are part of the school community and look forward to working with you throughout the year. Should you have any questions, please call the school (052-736-2025). We will be happy to assist you.
