FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
New students join new teachers to join our community to start the 2017-18 school year at NIS!
Another year is underway at NIS. After welcoming new students and families on Monday for our New Student Orientation, we opened to all gr.1-12 students on Tuesday and then added our ELC students on Wednesday. Our teaching team this year, augmented by new, talented and experienced teachers from around the world have been busy welcoming our largest opening year in the history of NIS. Our opening numbers were just short of 500 and we expect to be over the 500 student milestone sometime this quarter. This means a we have more diverse and energized community, ready to inquire, inspire and have impact!
The year ahead is full of excitement and opportunity and I encourage all NIS families to get involved and play a full part in your children’s experience at NIS. Start by making sure that you all plan to attend the PTA Welcome Tea (9 am, Aug 30) and the Welcome Dinner (6pm, Sep 8) and definitely by talking to your children about their first week of school.
We look forward to working with you and also beside you in the learning and happiness of your children in the year ahead. Welcome to the new NIS year!
Forms, Retreat Information Some families still have not submitted the required forms to start the school year. These are needed ASAP. All forms can be downloaded HERE on Haiku (login required). MS Retreat and HS Retreat information and forms can also be found on that page in Haiku Home. Thank you for your help – these are important to help ensure the safety of your children.
