FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
First Full Week Comes to an End!
It was a busy first full week at NIS. The secondary school students were off at their retreat in the Japan Alps, connecting with new friends and learning to work together in the great outdoors. We have had our first Elementary school assembly, our PTA Welcome Tea and our student photo days. We are also capturing more and more school stories on our social media accounts and welcoming new parents every day who choose to follow life at NIS on Twitter (@NagoyaIS). It is great to have the year start off so well and I look forward to meeting many of you at our Welcome Back Dinner on Friday next week!
Gr. 12 College Night and Information Session (Sept. 5)
All Gr. 12 students and parents are expected to attend this important session to ensure that parents, students and the school are working together to ensure that students are on their best, desired future pathways. The evening sessions starts at 6 pm in the Library.
Parent Tea – Head of School M. Parr (Sept. 8)
The first Parent Tea of the year will be held on Friday, Sept. 8 at 9:00 am with Head of School M. Parr on the Commons stage area. Everyone is welcome!
NIS Welcome Dinner (Sept. 8, 6-8 pm)
Please join us for the annual Welcome Dinner (6-8 pm) - an evening potluck dinner in the Commons with the PTA to welcome everyone to the school year. Please bring a dish to share - savory and/or a dessert (You are encouraged to bring a dish from your home country!). Beverages provided. In addition, beer, wine, and chu-hai will be available at the PTA cash bar. All returning families and new families are invited and encouraged to come! This is a great time to meet new and veteran families and taste foods from all over the globe! Starts at 6:00 pm.
Get Involved with the PTA!
If you'd like to become a member of the NIS PTA, please feel free to bring 5,000 yen to the Welcome Dinner on Friday and our treasurer can help and answer any questions you might have. Also, please follow us on Facebook under NIS PTA. Most of our upcoming events and information are posted on this page. We look forward to accepting your friend request soon!
Parking is Tight!
With our increased enrollment, parking in the main (upper) parking lot is now very tight. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding. There is a parking lot a short distance from the school with spots that are reserved for staff that parents may use after hours (from 5pm) but please be aware that during the day all spaces are allocated and NIS does not rent all the parking spaces. If you do park there, please only use the NIS labeled spaces (Green sign with numbers). Thank you for your cooperation.
Get Your NIS Spirit-Wear!
If you are interested in ordering any of these items for your child, please submit this form to the PTA or the Instructional Office with the correct amount of cash by Sept. 22. Shirts will be delivered by Oct. 13. Sample colors, designs, and sizes will be on display at the NIS Welcome Dinner (Sept. 8), and also in front of the school. (Both the Hoodie and the Tshirt have “Inquire Inspire Impact” printed on the back or side arm!) Show your Dolphin Pride!
