NIS Mourns Student's Passing
Posted 04/13/2018 04:00PM
This has been a dark, difficult and deeply sad week for all of us who are a part of the NIS community as we mourned the sudden and untimely death of Gr. 12 student Sho S. in a traffic accident on April 3. An NIS student since age 3, Sho was the light and life of the high school and the Gr. 12 students, and his smile and energy is missed dearly by those who knew, loved and cared for him. We are extremely grateful for the counseling help we received from so many other schools including Yokohama International School, Christian Academy in Japan, the Montessori School of Tokyo, the American School in Japan, Osaka International School, and all of the messages of condolences and support from so many more in our community. The ability of the NIS community to support our healing together has given us all faith and hope that we will be able to help our students, staff and community members who are suffering to find the joy in their lives which Sho would want them to have. A celebration of Sho's life is tentatively planned for May 30 at 2:30 pm, and more information to come soon, but anyone in the extended NIS family is welcome to join that afternoon to remember Sho.
