NIS Chemistry Teacher Recognized as Fellow and Author!

The NIS community congratulates Department Learning Leader of Science Gary Horner, here with head of school Matthew Parr, who has recently been elected a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Chartered Chemist (FRACI CChem), in recognition of his creative achievement and contribution to chemical sciences and education internationally. Mr Horner has contributed widely to the IB community since 2000 as an experienced workshop leader, team leader and examiner, and has led annual IB Chemistry summer workshops in Tokyo since 2013, training administrators and teachers of Chemistry as part of a Japanese Ministry of Education funded, IB joint project. Additionally, Mr. Horner also is the author of the IB textbook that will be used here at NIS and around the world! His textbook, "MYP Chemistry: A concept-based approach" was just published by Oxford University Press. Congratulations Mr. Horner!
