What is NIS?
NIS is an inclusive school community serving the needs of students with various gifts and talents, embracing a diversity of language, culture, and personal identity. Guided by the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, our talented educators challenge students to question the answers and stretch their imaginations, empowering them to think creatively and critically, pursue lifelong learning, and contribute positively to the global community.
What is the IB?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) develops critical, creative and reflective thinking, fosters the disposition of international mindedness and nurtures student confidence, self-belief and self-discovery. At its core, the IB curriculum enables students to understand themselves as learners - and as global citizens.

Wednesdays at NIS are more than just early dismissal days. After the hallways fall silent, NIS faculty get busy with meetings that vary in content and range widely from curriculum planning to continuing education sessions, and in the case of this year, lots of planning for accreditation. But once every quarter, the staff teach staff in sessions called "Staff Skillshares"!

Wednesday was the culmination of our four Parent/Teacher/Child conferences about how our students learn, what challenges they may face, and the successes that they celebrate every day in class. This week's conferences were student-led as we saw the students leading the conversation, putting them in the driver's seat, and allowing parents (and caregivers) and teachers to see how their students reflected on their growth and development over the school year.
